Agreco Farm, Adele, 74100, Rethymno, Crete, Greece
25th May 2025
There are two airports on the island of Crete: Heraklion (North East) and Chania (North West). Both are about an hour’s drive from Rethymno. EasyJet offer multiple flights to both airports every day from Gatwick, Luton, Birmingham and Bristol. Flights for late May are on sale now and we suggest booking as soon as you can to get the best price.
There are plenty of car hire and taxi options from both airports that you can book through Booking.com or EasyJet. If you are coming with a group on the same flight, we can highly recommend a lovely taxi driver who can accommodate about 12 people plus luggage.
There are so many accommodation options in Rethymno and the surrounding areas, so we’d suggest having a look on Booking.com, AirBnB or other similar sites to see what suits you best.
If you'd like to stay in a villa, we can recommend using Etouri Vacation Rental Management, who can find you a villa to suit your budget/requirements. They have offered us preferential rates and a discount if you say you are booking for Philippa & David's wedding (Villa Feyre). Their email address is: [email protected]
We can also highly recommend the following hotels, which we have stayed at or which come highly recommended from the venue, which have offered us discounts stated below.

Use booking code: ESSON WRIGHT WEDDING for 30% discount

There are so many restaurant/taverna options in Rethymno and the surrounding areas, so we’d suggest having a look on TripAdvisor, Google reviews or other similar sites to see what suits your budget and location. The following are places we've eaten at and enjoyed.
Your presence, love and company on our wedding day is honestly the best gift and we know it’s a big ask for you to come at all. However, should you wish to contribute to our wish list, please follow the link below, or alternatively make a donation to The Listening Place.
Weather
Crete at the end of May is typically a glorious, sunny, 25 degrees Celsius. It can be a bit cooler in the evenings though, so do bring jackets or cardigans for later.
Plus One?
Please check your invite for your +1! Unfortunately due to venue capacity restraints we have a limit on guest numbers.
Dress code
We want you to be comfortable, as it’s likely to be warm. We would suggest wearing smart, lightweight, formal/wedding attire (eg linen shirts/summer dresses). Please bring something warmer for when it gets dark and the temperate drops.
Women - the ground is cobbled and uneven, so wear comfortable shoes. We'd definitely recommend bringing flats for the dancing. Please no all-white/cream outfits.
Men - ideally trousers (no shorts), with a jacket for photos. Ties aren't necessary, unless you want to wear one!
Transport
We’ll be organising a pick up bus, on the wedding day, to take you to the venue. If you'd like to use our transport to get to Agreco Farm, please let us know.
Carriages
Carriages are at midnight
Children
As much as we love your little ones unfortunately we are unable to include children at our wedding ceremony or reception. We hope you can take this as an opportunity to take the night off and let your hair down.
Are there any plans before or after the wedding day?
The wedding is on a bank holiday Sunday, so we will be in Crete from Friday 23rd May. We are planning on having dinner at Staras Comfort Food on Saturday 24th May, if you’d like to join us (no pressure!) let us know.
We won’t be jetting off on honeymoon afterwards, so we’ll also be around on bank holiday Monday if anyone would like to join us at Nautilux.
Will you be changing your name?
I know some of you are curious! I’ll be becoming Philippa Esson Wright (I still want to keep the same name as the kids).
Pets
We know some of you have fur babies to care for and have enquired about whether they can join us. Unfortunately the wedding venue is a working farm and there is a no animal policy onsite. The accommodation options we looked at also didn’t allow pets, so befriending a lovely petsitter at home, is the way to go.
