Flying to Crete
There are two airports on the island of Crete: Heraklion (North East) and Chania (North West). Both are about an hour’s drive from Rethymno. EasyJet offer multiple flights to both airports every day from Gatwick, Luton, Birmingham and Bristol. Flights for late May usually go on sale from autumn. We’d recommend signing up to EasyJet’s newsletter to get notification of when the flights are released and booking as soon as you can to get the best price.
Getting to Rethymno
There are plenty of car hire and taxi options from both airports that you can book through Booking.com or EasyJet. If you are coming with a group on the same flight, we can highly recommend a lovely taxi driver who can accommodate about 12 people plus luggage.
Accommodation
There are so many accommodation options in Rethymno and the surrounding areas, so we’d suggest having a look on Booking.com, AirBnB or other similar sites to see what suits you best.

Weather
Crete at the end of May is typically a glorious, sunny, 25 degrees Celsius. It can be a bit cooler in the evenings though, so do bring jackets or cardigans for later.
Plus 1?
Please check your invite for your +1! Unfortunately due to venue capacity restraints we have a limit on guest numbers.
Dress code
We want you to be comfortable, as it’s likely to be very warm, so please wear what you feel comfortable in for a wedding. Ties and jackets aren’t necessary, although the wedding party will probably start with them on!
Transport
We’ll be organising a pick up bus, on the wedding day, to take you to the venue. Details tbc.

Children
As much as we love your little ones unfortunately we are unable to include children at our wedding ceremony or reception. We hope you can take this as an opportunity to take the night off and let your hair down.
Are there any plans before or after the wedding day?
The wedding is on a bank holiday Sunday, so we will be in Crete the day before (Philippa and Belle will be there even earlier for final wedding dress fittings!). We are looking at options for dinner somewhere the evening before and will keep you posted in case you’d like to join us (no pressure!).
We won’t be jetting off on honeymoon afterwards, so we’ll also be around on bank holiday Monday if anyone would like to join us at our hotel (location tbc).
Will you be changing your name?
I know some of you are curious! I’ll be becoming Philippa Esson Wright (I still want to keep the same name as the kids).
